I’ve always hated “NoSQL” — not the database, mind you — the acronym. The confusion in pronunciation: “No Sequel” versus the intended “Not Only Sequel” created contradictory meanings — with one excluding SQL and the other including it. Since No is so much easier to say than Not Only … The collective drifted to the lazier pronunciation of the two, of course. Nothing like evangelizing a new category with conflicting messages: “It doesn’t include SQL — No wait, yes it does!”
